North Vancouver Firefighters are standing in support of Terry and his campaign for election.
“The District of North Vancouver Fire Fighters’ Association is proud to endorse Terry Beech for election,” said Association President Brian Leavold. “Terry’s understanding of community service comes from experience through his career as a municipal councillor, and his work with charitable organizations. He is now seeking to continue that service to his community as a Member of Parliament.”
As part of Terry’s commitment to hear from as many constituents and local organizations as possible throughout the riding, he met recently with the Association to discuss the Liberal plan to support first responders. “We need to take care of the people – the firefighters, police officers and EMS – who devote their careers and lives to taking care of us.” Terry said.
The Liberal platform calls for the restoration of Heavy Search and Rescue Teams, cut under the Harper Conservatives, and for a national action plan to help first responders with post-traumatic stress disorder.
Our plan will:
Create a much-needed compensation benefit of $300,000 to support the families of firefighters, police officers, and EMS who are killed or permanently disabled in the line of duty.
Reinstate federal funding to Canada’s four Heavy Urban Search and Rescue teams that have faced cuts by the Conservative government
Create a national action plan on Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, which disproportionately affects public safety officers.
Commending Terry’s track record as a clear voice for first responder and public safety issues, Mr Leavold said, “Terry has proven he is a leader, and he has displayed the qualities this community values. We are confident that he will representative this riding with strong integrity.”
